Dean Carey-Partner
Dean CareyDean worked in the finance specialist team of the City of London VAT Office.

He joined Moore Stephens in 1990, moving to Deloitte in 1995.

During his time as Director with Deloitte, Dean was sector leader of the Land and Property, Education and Corporate Finance indirect tax teams.

Dean sits on the tax committee of the ACCA and the Joint VAT Consultative Committee (JVCC), the forum for high level policy discussions between HMRC and trade and professional organisations.  He is also a member of the VAT Practitioners Group.
 
Helen Carey-Partner
Helen CareyHelen joined HMRC in the City VAT Office in 1986.  While with HMRC Helen spent time as a VAT inspector auditing small to medium sized businesses and also large multi-nationals.

Helen left HMRC to join KMPG’s Social Economy Team in 1996, working with universities and colleges, housing associations and charities, before moving on to HLB Kidsons, subsequently Baker Tilly.

Helen’s principal areas of expertise are small to medium sized businesses and charities.
 
David Huyton-Partner
David HuytonDavid headed up HQ policy section with responsibility for Land and Property within HMRC.

After leaving HMRC, David became the European VAT partner for Moore Stephens.  David advises clients from all industry sectors but has expertise in land and property, insurance and the charity sector.

David represented the ACCA on the Joint VAT Consultative Committee, is a member of the VPG and has maintained many senior contacts in HMRC.
 
Stewart Henry-Partner
ImageStewart worked for HMRC for almost 10 years, leaving to join Hays Allen in 1994.  In 1997 Stewart moved to Saffery Champness, where he specialised in voluntary sector organisations.  During this period Stewart was involved in taking a number of leading cases through the tribunal and court system, delivery significant savings for clients.

Immediately prior to joining CVC, Stewart was a VAT director for Baker Tilly in East Anglia where he helped clients of all sizes across a range of sectors.
 
Peter Sloman-Senior Consultant
Peter Sloman
Peter’s VAT career started with Customs in 1975 before he left to join Spicer & Pegler, which subsequently merged with Deloitte & Touche. Before joining CVC Peter was a Senior Manager in Deloitte & Touche’s finance team.

As co author of Tolley’s seminal reference book on Insurance Premium Tax, Peter is recognised as one of the UK’s leading experts on the insurance market, a key area of expertise for CVC. However, Peter has advised businesses from all sectors and of all sizes throughout his career in VAT.
 
Lucy Henry-Senior Consultant
Lucy Henry
Lucy joined us direct from HMRC in January 2009.Lucy joined the previous department of HM Customs & Excise in 1989 and undertook a number of training and inspection roles and was an appeals and review officer for three years.

For the six years immediately before joining CVC Lucy was a Tax Avoidance Partial Exemption (TAPE) Higher Officer with responsibility for reviewing and challenging large and complex avoidance structures.

Lucy is an associate member of the Institute of Indirect Tax Practitioners.
 
Sandra Cramer-Senior Consultant
Sandra worked for HMRC for 14 years. For 5 years prior to leaving HMRC she worked in the HQ policy section with the responsibility for land and property.

Sandra joined the law firm Theodore Goddard (now Addleshaw Goddard) in 1989 as a VAT Consultant advising clients in all sectors on all aspects of VAT, with a particular specialism in land and property transactions. She has acted for many large property investors including pension funds, banks and property developers.

Sandra is a member of the VAT Practitioners Group and is an Associate of the Institute of Indirect Taxation.
