HMRC have issued business brief 10/06. This brief contains detailed information on the proposed implementation of changes to VAT accounting rules for businesses trading in mobile phones, computer chips and certain other goods. The changes, which are intended to prevent ‘carousel fraud’, are likely to be implemented in October and it is vital that any business likely to be affected by the changes reads the business brief and considers the implications on their accounting system as soon as possible.
